EVALUATION QUESTION 1
IMAGE ONE:Young adults and teenagers live highly under the influence of technology, expecially mobile phones (specifically popular, the BlackBerry). This is the reason we have chosen to use a mobile phone as our establing shot as it will immediently capture the audience's attention.
This shot also shows a link between the visuals and audio as the male character dials 'Jade's' number in sync with the dialling tone on the audio track.
IMAGE TWO:Image two is set in a cinema. However, due to complications and legal reasons we were unable to film in a real cinema and therefore we had to use clever lighting techniques to re-create the effect. We successfully achieved this by the light of a projector.
IMAGE THREE AND FOUR:This image portrays the way in which Qubia Records would like their artists to be represented. As you can see in the pictures the characters are photographed smiling, this is because as a company we want our audience to be able to relate to our artists as everyday people.
IMAGE FIVE:This is an example of a audience point-of-view shot, as the two protagonists communicate into their webcam as if talking to the audience. This allows the audience to feel more involved within the video and ultimately feel a deeper connection to the duo.
IMAGE SIX:Included in our music video are girls from all different social backgrounds. This expresses more than the sterotypical female conventionally portrayed in the majoirty of music videos. The effect of this is that we appeal to a wider audience, overall making us more relateable and likeable.
We also challenge conventions by making the female with the most androgynous behavious win the date in place of the stero-typical 'pretty girl' contestant.
IMAGE SEVEN:This demonstrates our use of mise-en-scene.
We decided to keep our locations simple and relatable to ensure the narrative story was understood clearly by the target audience.
This also ties in with the idea of us using cliche date scenarios (e.g. cinema and dinner). We decided to keep these aspects simple to ensure our target audience didnt lose track of the narrative.

IMAGE EIGHT:This image shows one of the protagonists lip-lyincing on-beat to the song. this is an aspect conventional to all music videos.
IMAGE NINE:Medium close up shots are used to help the audience establish more about the artist and lyrics in the song by their bosy language and faical expressions.
We have demonstrated this in photograph nine and throughout the lip-syncing sections of our music video.
REAL MUSIC VIDEOS
Throughout this video the lyrics appear on screen as he sings them this shows a link between the lyrics and the audio.
IMAGE TWO:Beyonce's flaws and all video portrays her in a way much different to that us as the audience are used to in terms of her videos. She is always presented as a sexy female figure but however in this video her record company has chosen to present her with a softer tone about her to effectively make her seme more relateable to thE everyday people who look up to her.
IMAGE THREE:This music video by Eliza Doolittle shows genre from the location and instruments shown behind her. This song 'Pack-Up' is of the folk genre and this was portrayed successfully by the video being set in Jamaica (orgin of folk music) and the instruments being present (typical folk instruents)
IMAGE FOUR:This photo has been taken from Keri Hilson's 'Pretty Girl Rock' video. The whole video features many intertextual references to many famous videos, from TLC's Creep to Janet Jackson's rhythm nation (pictured). This is effective as the videos she's reinacting are already established and popular and therefore have a high chance of reminaing that way through her re-creation.IMAGE FIVE: Lady Gaga feat. Beyonce - Telephone has many uses of impressive camera and editing techniques. The split screen above is an example. The split screen is effective as it shows a connection between Beyonce and Lady Gaga, helping the audience view them as an alliance in this video.
IMAGE SIX: Lupe Fiasco's Superstar features a lot of flashing light. This connotes the songs titles 'superstar' as celebrirtes and superstars gather alot of media attention and are photographed on a regular basis.
The spotlight pictured above is effective as it presents Lupe Fiasco as the 'superstar' in the video.

IMAGE SEVEN: During 'Party in the USA' by Miley Cyrus, she begins to sing infont of the american flag. This links back to the title and communicates where the video is set.
IMAGES EIGHT AND NINE: The first of the images is taken from Lady Gaga's 'Paparazzi' and the seconf from Nicki Minaj's video 'Right thru me'. Although from different videos they both communicate a lustful message to the audience.

EVALUATION QUESTION 3
This gave myself and India an indication of how successful our ideas would be once put into place. We found this feedback both encouraging and helpful.
The negative feedback towards our initial idea was the most rewarding. It helped us realise some of the aspects we were trying to create were out of reach due to the effect being too time consuming to put in place or too expensive. Our feedback also showed us that our ambitious idea made it difficult for the target audience to understand our narrative.
The positive feedback towards our rough cut was helpful as it helped us know that we were on the correct path to a successful music video that would ultimately please our target audience.
Our initial idea was not to make the footage a comedic piece however the perception of this during the showing of our rough cut was dominating and therefore we took this on board, and encorporated more comedy into our final piece.

The negative critisim was highly valuable as we now knew where we were missing aspects in helping the audience enjoy and understand our music video. All these points were influencial to our final piece as we designed and added a 'hookup' logo for the chat show sections of the footage, to differenciate what parts were of the chat show and which sections wernt.
Adding more cuts was also taken on board.
Adding more cuts was also taken on board.
Overall feedback of final piece. We posted our final piece onto the social networking site facebook to gain feedback. We chose facebook as the majority of our target audience socialise and communicate through this website.
We really admired the feedback as it showed we produced an effective product as the feedback was mostly positive. We did recieve some constructive crisitsm about the conlcusion of our footage. We took this on board, and if we had the chance to re-do our project we would have managed our time a little better to produce a clearer ending.

MAGAZINE ADVERT EXAMPLES.
This is an example magazine advert for Jay-z's greatest hits collection.
featured in the advertisement is a photograph of the digi-pak. This is useful as the target audience will know what to look for when shopping for the product.
Featured at the bottom of the advertisement is a countdown to the release date.
This helps build adrenaline and excitement amongst the audience similar to a countdown for a time of celebration (e.g. new year).
As this is a greatest hits album (an important moment marking accomplishment in an artists career) it is also a time for celebration and therefore, the countdown to the release date could represent a countdown to a celebration of the artist (Jay-z's) career.
The colours used in this digipak is dominantly black. This can connote a dark feel to the album of some explicit nature.

The colours used in this digipak is dominantly black. This can connote a dark feel to the album of some explicit nature.
A picture of the artist is not featured on this digipak as this is a greatest hits album and the artist is already well established by his name alone. Photographed on the digipak, is a trangular symbol created by two hands. This is Jay-z's trade mark which he is also well established for, as he does this sign in many of his videos and stage appearances.

The hit single off of Gwen Stefani's 'Love. Angel. Music. Baby' album was entitled; 'Rich Girl' (which is also mention below the album title) and is a theme set throughout this magazine advert. The font is written in a rich gold while Gwen is pictured like a Queen on a throne holding a crown encrusted with diamonds.
The effect of this is that the audience will automatically be able to associate the hit single with photograph on the advert, and therefore assume this album will contain many more chart topping singles.
Unlike the magazine advert above, a photograph of the artist dominates the page.
This is because this is Gwen Stefani's debut album away from her group 'No Doubt' and she therefore is trying to establish herself in the music industry as a solo performer. Having her photograph dominate the page almost introduces her to the reader as this is the first thing they will see.
The digipak for this album is placed underneath the picture and is of a much smaller size than the remainder of the advertisement. This can show that promotion and introduction of the artist is the main aim here.

ILLUSTRATOR TRAINING
Adobe Illustrator is a graphics programme which unlike photoshop allows you to create vector shapes without them becoming pixelated when made larger.
Because of this, Illustrator is most commonly used to create things such as logos, so we decided to use this programme to create the logo for our invented production company.
Here is our final design made via illustrator:
REJECTED PRODUCTION LOGOS
These production logos were created using basic microsoft fonts.
We wanted to gather some idea of how we wanted our final product to look so created a few logos using microsoft word tools. However, we found the outcome of these logos were somewhat unprofessional and there declined the idea of using them, and decided to use a more professional program; Illustrator.

MAGAZINE AD. ANALYSIS
Magazine Advert Analysis
THE BRAND.
. In addition to VIBE and VIXEN magazine, the brand also publishes books focusing on hip-hop culture.
This ties in with our chosen music genre as Hip-Hop can be seen as a development to New Jack Swing in some ways.
. Quincy Jones also introduced a television show entitled 'VIBE' which premiered in august 1997.
Like the target audience for our group, it attracted a young urban audiences, both male and female.
. VIBE also involves a website containing everything from news on the latest music releases / videos / artists and television shows / music award ceremonies, photographs and gossip on urban celebrities, a culture features section and also a blog for the target audience to respond and leave feedback about the magazine or any of its contents.
Our chosen audience will also be targeted by VIBE magazine and visit the website to find out more information and latest news /photographs surrounding our band.
Our viral campaign for auditionee's could have also appeared on the VIBE website as well as our own 'JADE' website to try and encourage more people from our target audience to audition.

PHOTOSHOP TRAINING
Photoshop is a photograph manipulation programe which allows you to edit and develop graphics.
We will be dominantly using this piece of software to edit the pictures that will be used on our final digi-pak and therefore, during our photoshop training we trailed many different effects to see which would successfully create.
After deciding on a theme for our digipak, we began to minipulate the pictures to create the effect.

REPRESENTATION OF WOMEN AND CLIQUE'S.
Our music video focuses on the presence of young women.
During the opening, the audience are introduced to three different characters on a dating show of whom are clearly from different social backgrounds.
After discussion with our target audience we found that they believed that It is cliche for the 'pretty girl / diva character' to win the date with the male character and therefore we created a twist and made the 'tomboy / badgirl' character win the date.
This idea challenges the social norms of society.
We also presented the 'diva' character with a jelous streak (her interupting on the date in the cinema) to show looks can be decieving and an inner beauty within people can be often be over looked.
Having the idea of different female character types can also define the social barriers of the modern day. American movies, television showsand music videos often present and influence three main social clique's, those being;
GEEK / NERD Clique.
(often smart and enjoy education, do not focus souly on outer image or worry about material items / possesions. Within society often reguarded as 'rejects'.)

POPULAR KIDS Clique.
(Predominantly rich children who focus on fashion an material items. Often presented as stubborn, stuck up and not so interested in education. Gain high social status in school amongst peers)

BAD / 'GANG' RELATED Clique.
(Hip-hop cultured, urban and often feared by peers. Not very much into education however like to partake in sports like football / basketball.)

This idea has alo been captured in Avil Lavigne's -'Girlfriend' video and Chris Brown's - 'KissKiss' Video.
